Our Work

General

Activities of CSSL fall within five main categories:

¨ Education/Public Awareness programmes for communities, school nature clubs, university and technical vocational institutions

¨  A resource centre to provide information and data base on conservation and the environment

¨ Support for biological research and management interventions to protect species, sites and habitats

¨ Advocacy and support for environmental protection and  sustainable development in Sierra Leone

¨ Partnership  with other environmental organisations to promote site based conservation

 With the help of our members, we are able to:

 Educate and raise awareness of wildlife, threatened species and critical ecosystems

 Research and protect the rarest wildlife

 Provide training to university students.

 Advocate and support policy development on conservation

 Promote the production and dissemination communication and awareness raising materials.

 Support government in implementing the National Tree Planting Drive, Wildlife Bush Fire Prevention and Control, National Environmental Protection and Sustainable management of Mangroves and the forestry programmes.

 Cooperate and network with conservation organisations and local NGOs.

 Host public lectures, seminars, workshops, exhibitions and the Annual Wildlife Week events.

 Provide slide/documentary video shows in schools and to the general public.

 Publish newsletters, magazines, posters, leaflets, calendars and produce curriculum resources materials.

Carry out waterfowl census twice every year.
